WEDNESDAY, NOV 30

TOPIC:  Eastern Absolutism: The Rise of Prussia

Something to think about.... Has each nation/culture developed it's own distinctive character?  If so is it fair to say that Russia's history created a culture in need of a strong leader (sheep without a shepherd, father czar, etc.)?  If these two assumptions are true, could Russia truly become western when "Western" was defined as a society based on representative government?

Something else to think about... Russia didn't experience the Renaissance.  Russia didn't experience the Reformation.  Russia wasn't undergoing the scientific revolution.  What does it matter?
